Our clothes for newborns are most often made with flat seams to avoid friction on the skin and thus promote the comfort of toddlers.

Wellness Being

All our clothes are designed and made to allow the child to live happily in their clothes with freedom of movement. It is no coincidence that in 1918, Petit Bateau cut the legs off long underwear and invented the pants we know today. By observing the special armholes of American soldiers' tops, which could be removed whilst keeping their helmet on, Petit Bateau invented in 1950 the first baby bodysuits, with this "American" neckline.

Our newborn clothes are made with flat seams to prevent chafing on the skin for total comfort for babies.

Durability and Resistance

Breakpoints are placed on the most requested seams of our clothes to avoid any risk of tearing. For more solidity, the buttons are placed in the machine and resist a traction of 7kg. Impossible for children to tear them off or swallow them. Our garments are knitted with extra long cotton fibers which ensure a tighter mesh that lasts better over time. A Petit Bateau resists the life of a child, and very often, that of his brothers and sisters.

No to toxic, irritating, carcinogenic substances! Petit Bateau designs mesh collections for newborns, underwear and sleepwear with the Oeko-Tex® label which guarantees the absence of substances harmful to the skin.

Easy Maintenance & Resistance to Washing

No bad surprise over the washes, our clothes do not shrink. No need for dry cleaning, our clothes are machine washable, quite simply. Petit Bateau ensures colors that do not disgorge, do not degrade and keep all their shine.
